Shiraishi Strip Club — Abandoned Strip Club in Japan

Here, luxury and lust were accessible for just 3,000 yen—welcome to this abandoned strip club. This spot was one of the crucial highlights of our Japanese road trip; we couldn’t pass up such an unusual stop on our journey. Lost on the side of a mountain road in Okayama Prefecture, the place doesn’t look like much at first glance. Made of sheet metal and exposed blue steel pillars, this shack-like complex gives no hint of what it used to be back in the day. There is only one way to slip inside: a metal staircase covered by a green tarp. If it had been boarded up, our exploration would have cut short. With a kitschy atmosphere to boot, the club throws us straight back into another decade. Upon entering the first strip room, the light is virtually nonexistent; taking photos is a nightmare, and our flashlights are of no help. To ensure we didn’t leave empty-handed, we set up our three flashlights and mobile phones to illuminate the room. Luckily, we didn’t face the same struggle in the rest of the club, including the second strip room. Upstairs was what appeared to be the living quarters for the owner and the girls, still filled with many personal belongings and photo albums. In some spots, the floor threatens to give way, giving you the reassuring sensation of walking on marshmallows. Worn out and exhausted, this stop was the final chapter of our month-long road trip in Japan—we ended it immersed in Japanese debauchery.
