Cesar Castle – Abandoned Castle in Belgium

We are certainly not in the best season to discover Chateau César, located in the Province of Namur. The vegetation almost entirely camouflages the castle’s facade; it’s an improvised jungle, making it difficult to get a decent photo. The site itself is disappointing—there isn’t much to see inside, just a few authentic frescoes that have had some contemporary ‘additions’ over time, such as flying saucers drawn over a reproduction of the castle. There’s no reason to linger, as the place has been completely stripped. Built in the 19th century and bought in the 1950s by a printer, he turned the estate into an annex for his business, which was a very renowned printing house at the time. Its abandonment followed the bankruptcy of the company in the 2000s and the death of its owner in 2009—a sad fate for Chateau César.
