Spreepark — Abandoned Amusement Park in Germany
Exploring Spreepark—Berlin’s famous abandoned amusement park—offers a true dive into a post-apocalyptic world where nature has completely reclaimed its rights. What you discover is a surreal wasteland, frozen in time. Even before reaching the metal entrance gates, the park’s silhouette stands out from afar. The central and most iconic element of the site is undeniably its immense red Ferris wheel, whose multicolored gondolas now sit motionless. This steel colossus dominates a wild landscape, rising majestically above the tall grass, brush, and thick trees that have swallowed the concrete pathways.
Wandering through this urban jungle reveals the skeletons of former rides. The metal tracks of old roller coasters twist and rust amidst dense vegetation that almost completely blocks the path. Further along, the scene becomes nearly dreamlike: a bright yellow coaster car sits frozen on an inclined conveyor belt, plunging straight toward a stagnant pool of water entirely covered in a thick layer of green algae. Remnants of other attractions endure as well, such as the majestic wooden prow of a pirate ship—adorned with a blue and gold dragon head showing sharp teeth—slowly rotting in the shade of the trees.
