Exploring the Sitges water park reveals a scene of absolute desolation, where the silence is broken only by the whistling of the wind through the metal structures. Nature has reclaimed its territory with such force that wild vegetation is cracking the concrete and now colonizes the bottom of the empty, greyish pools.
The giant slides, once symbols of laughter and excitement, now stand like the carcasses of peeling fiberglass. Their bright colors, faded by the sun, have turned into dull pastel tones. Inside these motionless coils, water has given way to an accumulation of dust, dead leaves, and glass shards, offering a striking post-apocalyptic vision.

Amusement park closed in 2012. Unfortunately, by the time of our exploration, the park had been cleared of its rides. Our swimsuits stayed in our bags, bone dry. It was close—extremely close. We almost missed this exploration entirely, and we are almost certainly among the last people to visit this abandoned amusement park. By the time we arrived, night was beginning to fall. Standing before the main entrance, we noticed excavators already on-site; the demolition of several buildings had already begun. Fortunately, by…
It is impossible to imagine that we are just a hundred meters away from an abandoned water park—there are no signs, no clues that would lead us to believe so… and yet. We follow the GPS on our phones and trek through the brush to reach the heart of the derelict park. After a brisk…
