Leri Cavour — Abandoned Town in Italy
Living next to a nuclear power plant is never a good idea. After Doel in Belgium, here is an Italian village abandoned since the 1960s. A few houses continued to be occupied by some of the power plant staff before being completely deserted. Time has taken its toll, and looters and vandals have left the village with no chance; even though the doors and windows were walled up, the village’s isolation worked against it. By some miracle, only one building stands firm—God protects His church, as it is indeed impossible to get inside. In 2011, there was an attempt to save a few buildings; work began but was quickly halted due to a lack of funds.
